Soap Savon de Marseille Lavender
Savon de Marseille Lavender Flowers
This soap is the original Soap De Marseille. It is hand-forged with all local regional flowers of pure fragrances.
Big blocks of olive oil based soaps have been crafted since the middle Ages in the South of France. In 1688 it became law that only soaps made according to strict, ancient methods could bear the famous mark "Savon De Marseille". Only a few savonneries near Marseille still make this legendary soap in the traditional matter.
It is known for its purity and gentle skin care worldwide.
It takes the soap master two weeks to make. The delicate mixture of vegetable oil, palm oil, alkaline ash from sea plants and Mediterranean Sea salted water depending on the soap choice, are heated for 10 days in antique cauldrons, then poured into open pits where it hardens.
The soaps are then cut into cubes and stamped; set out to dry in the sun and mistral winds. Authentic Savon De Marseille is stamped with its weight in grams which is the original practice.
Soap color may vary from light to dark. No soap is "greener". In France they are sold piled high on open-air market tables like produce.
Square size of each block: 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 inches
Weight is stamped on each soap = 300 Grams (10.58 oz approx.)
